Priority: Monitor
Overview
- Closely watch your cat for the next 5-7 days.
- Make a veterinary appointment if symptoms continue.
- If symptoms change, repeat and revise the Symptom Checker.
Symptom Considerations

- If there is a lot of blood, your cat should be seen by your veterinarian as soon as possible.
- Protect the foot to minimize pain.
- Some questions to prepare for:
- How and when did the bleeding start?
- Have you given your cat any medication or topical treatment?
- Your veterinarian may:
- Examine all the nails and nail beds
- Trim all the nails
- Your cat may require:
- Sedation for the procedure
- Wound cleaning and bandaging
- Oral medications you will administer at home (pain relievers, antibiotics)
