Priority: Monitor
Overview
- Closely watch your cat for the next 5-7 days.
- Make a veterinary appointment if symptoms continue.
- If symptoms change, repeat and revise the Symptom Checker.
Symptom Considerations
- Skin problems are most often caused by allergies and infections.
- Some questions to prepare for:
- When was the last dose of flea prevention?
- Has this happened before?
- What food is your cat currently eating?
- Any recent changes in diet? What food did your cat eat before?
- Does your cat get any treats or table scraps?
- Is it worse at certain times of the year?
- Is your cat on any medications or supplements?
- Any ear issues?
- Loose stool or gas?
- Do you bathe your cat? What shampoo do you use?
- Your cat may need:
- Diagnostic testing such as a microscope (cytology) exam
- Allergy testing
- Blood work
- Anti-inflammatories, antibiotics, antifungals, medicated shampoos
- An Elizabethan collar to prevent chewing/licking
