Priority: Monitor
Overview
- Closely watch your cat for the next 5-7 days.
- Make a veterinary appointment if symptoms continue.
- If symptoms change, repeat and revise the Symptom Checker.
Symptom Considerations
- Contact your veterinarian.
- House soiling can mean there is a medical problem.
- If your cat can’t urinate at all, it can be an emergency.
- Some questions to prepare for:
- When did you first notice your cat's trouble with urinating?
- How would you describe the trouble (straining, unable to urinate, accidents, etc.)?
- How much is your cat drinking?
- Any change in color or smell of the urine?
- Your cat may need diagnostic tests such as:
- Urinalysis
- Blood work
- X-rays
- Medications such as antibiotics or pain medications
- A special diet
