Priority: Low

Overview

  • Closely watch your cat for the next 3-5 days.
  • Make a veterinary appointment if symptoms continue.
  • If symptoms change, repeat and revise the Symptom Checker.

Symptom Considerations

  • Blood loss and infection are the main concerns.
  • Scrapes should be seen by your veterinarian quickly to decrease the risk of infection.
  • Some questions to prepare for:
    • When did it happen?
    • How did it happen?
    • Have you treated your cat at home?
    • Have you given your cat any medication?
  • Depending on the severity, your cat may require:
    • Treatment of the scrape (flushing, bandaging, etc.)
    • Oral medications (pain relievers, antibiotics)
