Priority: Monitor
Overview
- Closely watch your dog for the next 5-7 days.
- Make a veterinary appointment if symptoms continue.
- If symptoms change, repeat and revise the Symptom Checker.
Symptom Considerations
- Amount of blood lost is the main concern.
- If there is a lot of blood, your dog should be seen by your veterinarian as soon as possible.
- Some questions to prepare for:
- How long has your pet been bleeding?
- How much blood is there?
- Your veterinarian may:
- Examine the mouth and teeth
- Make sure there are no foreign objects trapped in it
- Your dog may require:
- Sedation for the procedure
- A dental cleaning or dental x-rays
- Oral medications you will administer at home (pain relievers, antibiotics)
